CEILIDH - Friday, 18th February 2011

Posted by St Werburghs - 10/01/11 02:34PM - 0 Comments - news
7:30 pm - 11:30 pm

Come and learn to dance with us on our Celtic flavoured Ceilidh evening. A Ceilidh is an informal social event that involves dancing to live music. The evening will be hosted by “Banshee”, a multi-instrumental, energetic band with a caller, helping us with our jig. Do not worry if you are a beginner or an expert, or think you have two left feet- this evening is suitable for young and old of all experiences.

Our bar will have plenty of hot toddies and there will also be traditional food available.

Elina Kikili will perform Gypsy Khalbelia dance - a folk dance of the Gypsies of Rajasthan (India).

All proceeds from the event will be going towards improving St Werburghs Community Centre’s outdoor spaces.

The Ceilidh starts at 7:30pm and costs £6.00 adults, £4.00 concessions and £10.00 including a meal voucher.

All ages welcome.

St Werburghs Centre Openning Launch Event

Posted by St Werburghs - 25/08/10 11:25AM - 0 Comments - news
Image The St Werburghs Centre formally launched its reopening on Saturday 10th of July 2010. Thank you all for coming around and making this day successful. If you haven’t managed to visit us yet please feel free to come in anytime to view our lovely community facilities and offices to let.

Now as the Capital Project is over we are happy to say that our new spaces are being filled very quickly with an exciting programme of courses, activities and events. Also, alongside our regular projects (bike repair workshops and film project) we are running a few new ones, to include free tea dances and tai chi for over 50’s and community semi-permanent art gallery. Please download our latest newsletter for further information.

We are thinking about organising regular film screenings, community markets and an evening fundraising event, (maybe Celildah?). We welcome new ideas and initiatives so please get in touch if you would like to get involved!
