WELCOME TO ST WERBURGHS CENTRE
Based in St Werburghs in East-Central Bristol, we serve the local communities of Lawrence Hill, Ashley and Easton wards and communities of interest city wide. The Centre is managed by the St Werburghs Community Association, which aims to provide meeting spaces and facilities for individuals, community groups and voluntary organisations.
We focus on building mutually beneficial partnerships between groups and organisations in the community. In support of this, we run various events and projects, current to include Tai Chi for over 50's, Raking & Baking, Picnic in the Park and we also have other organisations based in the centre who are working within the local community.
The Community Centre has been operating on this site since 1972 and in 1999 was registered as a charity and company limited by guarantee. In June 2010 we completed £1m Capital Project and in November 2010 we achieved the VISIBLE CommunitiesTM accreditation which is a quality systems standard for the charity and community sector distributed by Community Matters.
This site should answer most questions about the Centre; please use the menu of links above to find out more, but don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd prefer to talk to someone or can't find what you're looking for.
If you are looking to hire a meeting room, run a regular class, hold a business conference or host a family party - St Werburghs Centre has plenty of space for it all.
The newly refurbished rooms are all situated on ground level and are wheelchair accessible. There is a large Hall with wooden floors and double height windows, a fully equipped commercial kitchen and a variety of medium size rooms suitable for classes, meetings or workshops. Our newly built, eco-friendly and modern annexe at the rear consists of four rooms with underfloor heating, which can be used either as community spaces, training rooms or offices.
The new annexe building has a bank of Photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight into power. There is a display that shows how much power we are generating, the total so far and the amount of CO2 saved. There is also a Sedum (grass) roof on the new annexe building. This provides a high level of insulation and in addition reduces the level of rainwater entering the drains. The walls are also well insulated with ‘Warmcell’ which is manufactured from 100% recycled waste paper. Ceiling lights in the annexe are also environmentally friendly, using sunlight tubes designed to capture and intensify natural daylight.
A summary of prices and description of all rooms can be found on our Facilities page or click here to view a PDF of our brochure.
